Horses Pulling Carts by János Viski | Hungarian, 1891–1987

A captivating work by renowned Hungarian artist János Viski, celebrated for his vivid and expressive depictions of horses in motion. Horses Pulling Carts beautifully captures the strength, energy, and freedom of these magnificent animals while telling a story of movement and the enduring connection between humans and nature.

Viski was born in 1891 in Szokolya, Hungary, and studied under Tivadar Zemplén at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively, including through South America, where he studied gauchos, horses, and cattle. His fascination with animals and their movement became a defining element of his work. In 1936, Viski was honored with the prestigious Grand Prix at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Paris, further establishing his reputation as an accomplished painter.
