Antique 19th Century Spill Staffordshire Figurine

Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Spill Figurine

A charming 19th-century Staffordshire spill figurine, showcasing the whimsical character and decorative artistry that made Staffordshire pottery so beloved throughout the Victorian era.

Originally designed as a practical table accessory, spill vases were used to hold slender rolled pieces of paper or wood used to transfer a flame from the fireplace to candles, lamps, or pipes. Over time, these functional objects became beautifully decorated works of art, often featuring colorful figures, animals, and romantic scenes.

This piece makes a wonderful addition to a collection of English pottery and would be equally lovely displayed on a mantel, bookshelf, or styled among other collected treasures.
