Jean-Baptiste Desvignes | French Opaline Perfume Bottles | Pair

A truly exquisite pair of hand-painted French opaline perfume bottles, attributed to the celebrated glass painter and decorator Jean-Baptiste Desvignes (1786–1826). Dating to the Napoleon III era, these elegant bottles showcase the artistry and romantic beauty of 19th-century French opaline glass.

Desvignes was renowned for his innovative decorative techniques on opaline during the French Restoration period, particularly in Paris from approximately 1817–1826. Delicate hand-painted details and touches of gilding lend these bottles an unmistakably luxurious presence, while a slight loss of gold beautifully reflects their age and history.

In excellent condition, this stunning pair would be equally at home displayed on a vanity, dressing table, or among a collection of fine European antiques. A gorgeous example of French decorative arts and a wonderful find for the collector of antique perfume bottles and opaline glass.
